Mark van Engelen is the founder and managing director of Van Engelen Vermogensbeheer & Advies B.V., a consultancy firm that focuses on specialist asset management, high-quality interim management services and strategic advice within the financial sector. Mark brings with him more than 25 years of experience, gained at leading international financial institutions. His career began in New York, where he worked as an Investment Consultant on Wall Street, the beating heart of the financial world. He then further developed his career at leading financial players such as Achmea, ING, AXA, REAAL-Zwitserleven and a.s.r. Nederland, where he was involved in the management of large investment portfolios and strategic transitions.

Over the years, Mark has built up in-depth expertise in the areas of balance sheet & asset management, risk management, product development and the integration of mergers and acquisitions. In his roles as Chief Investment Officer, Executive Director of a pension fund and Head of Fund Management & External Asset Management, he was responsible for leading complex transitions and managing investment departments. His efforts resulted in significant growth of the invested assets, thanks to a combination of innovative, sustainable investment strategies, successful fund launches, strategic insourcing and targeted acquisitions. He also made a significant contribution to process improvement and cost reduction within the organisations he worked for, with a continued focus on ensuring efficient and sustainable results.
